Youth Quests International Domestic Missions Trip to the San Carlos Indian Reservation

Cutter Church, the San Carlos Indian Reservation project near Globe, AZ.;
current needs, prayer requests, as well as, future plans!

The team of 33, mostly teens, from Sierra Vista United Methodist Church in Texas, joining Youth Quests International, worked on some crucial and much needed improvements.  The church had leaks in the roof resulting in damage to the ceiling within the church. Funds raised for the project along with the church's finances and tribal donations worked together to purchase materials for the group to do the renovation. The group tore, literally, into the work with dust and debris flying.  Then putting a new roof on the church and new sheet rock on the interior ceiling in four days.  Some of the men of the church came alongside and helped with putting up and taping the ceiling, while the women brought water, ice and food for lunch for the whole group.

While we were there on Wednesday evening, we held a special service and ministered to the local people.   It was unique due to the fact of the inside of the church still a work in progress, we held the meeting outside in the parking lot! We have been asked to come back soon and  hold special meetings and youth rallies for three days.

Project Updates and Prayer Requests
(Will you pray about the following needs? The dollar amounts mentioned are still needed for the projects.) For donations go to:

Three Day Youth Rally and Special Meetings
The Pastor, Sister Fay talked about the need for ministering to the young people there on the reservation. She would like to hold a three day youth rally to help reach them. The testimonies given by the young people on Wednesday gave hope to many who attended the service. While we were there, we saw the need for ministry to the youth of the area.  It's our desire to be able to return and hold the special meetings. Please pray with us regarding the doors to open and the funds to come in for this need.

There are other improvements needed for the Cutter church. The heart of the Pastor is to fix the pulpit area and bathroom. Currently, the bathroom is in the front of the church  to the left of the pulpit. Her desire is to move it to a different location. In checking the building, the whole North side of the church needs siding as the plywood needs to be completely replaced. Please be in prayer with us for a work/ministry group for 2011!

2010 Project Testimonial
"I did get to see the church from a distance and that was it but from what I had seen the roofing looked really nice.  My sisters were telling me of how they would see a bus passing them in the morning and they would say..."there goes sisters project".  I also did get to talk with Carol Lewis the Co Pastor and she was all excited about everything.  I am so happy for Sister Faye and her congregation cause I am sure they have built lasting relationships with each other.  My aunt Margaret also told me that she got to meet and talk with you.  She had complimented you and your husband with high regards and she enjoyed everything." (From: Tammy Hill)

2010 Project Results
A call from Sis Fay from the Cutter church:
She said previously the church members were having a hard time getting together on getting the roof fixed. It had been fixed by someone 3 years ago who had put new roofing on over the old. It still leaked and had ruined the ceiling in many places. The people were also having a hard time raising money for the new roof as well. There was division among the people concerning how to take care of the problem. When we came, the people dropped their personal views on how to do things and became unified in helping up get it done. They have since began to work on getting the church done with better lighting, etc. She said we provided the encouragement they needed to work together on the church.

She said she needed the Word of encouragement that John gave her and has been getting rest in body and spirit.

7 Day Mission Trip To Piura, Peru With Youth Quests

Working on a Peruvian family's home

Mission Trip To Peru
Peru ranks amongst the world's amazing centers of historic civilization. They continue to fascinate travelers and archaeologists alike. Peru can be found in the west central section of South America and is particularly a nation of geographical and cultural contrast. Peru is the 19th largest nation on the planet and is bordered north by Ecuador, to the south by Chile and Bolivia, towards the east by Columbia and Brazil and also to the west with the Pacific Ocean. Peru is a unique country as a result of the climatic, natural and cultural difference of its regions, which consist of coast, sierra and jungle.

Peru is populated by over 23 million people, largely descendents of Spanish settlers as well as native Inca and pre-Inca civilizations. Currently there are three national languages: Spanish, and the native Quechua and Aymara, reflecting the native Indian and Spanish origins which cultivate modern Peruvian society.

Your main project purpose is work, evangelism, ministry and rallies among the local people and youth of the community.  Throughout your stay in Piura you will have the opportunity to be a blessing to many by the work project you will be completing, as well as, to many children that you will come in contact with at our hosts training school and church in Piura, Peru. You may also have the privilege of evangelizing in the nearby villages, bringing hope to the lost as well as being an encouragement for many others.  There will be countless opportunities for ministry and spiritual mentoring in your leisure times and social activities.
